It is common for people of a traditionalist or reactionary orientation to sneer at the idea of “progress”, because they identify it with their opponents, whom they call “progressives”.
I feel like we need a dissertation: Technology Viewed from the Right
Technology at base is a tool. It is a lack of discipline as well as genuine forms of its simulacra which cause people to treat it as more than it is. That isn't to say there isn't a metaphysical role for technology to play, but it must be much more carefully considered than it is now. There does not yet exist a sustainable framework of discipline surrounding the use of modern technology, especially the internet. This is something that will inevitably take shape as time goes on, but it is to our benefit to be an early progenitor in this development, and even better to have it take a shape uniquely beneficial to our folk.
I will address the issue of technology in detail in a later post. Sifting through the literature on philosophy of technology is taking a rather long time.
"we have not yet reached the perfect form of society (if that is even possible)"--it is not possible. I do agree with the ethos of this article, although progress would be an inner orientation or virtue rather than manifest in any external achievement in the form of a harmonious society.

Technology is a horse who must be tamed and bent toward constructive purpose.

Reject Revolution, embrace evolution.
The tested answer is that the best is in the original.
